After he graduated, he started to work for his business, which is a alcohol seller. And he currently works now. He has studied English for two years. He thinks the easiest part in English is speaking. The most difficult part is writing an essay. He can either work alone or with classmates. He thinks speaking and writing English are both work for him. He likes to read in English, and his first language. The three goals he has are not to flunk out, attend college course, and learn how to write an essay.

Childhood Obesity
Does your house or your significant other have any children? Do you know that one in five children have an obesity problem? Childhood obesity already became a very serious problem in the U.S. Childhood Obesity is a problem that a lot of children are getting over weight for their age. According to the article “Local Government Seek to Reduce Obesity in Kids,” 18% of America children have a weight problem. Weight problems also will cause diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and social and psychological problems. It may also cause heart attack and lead to your death. This essay will describe proposed solutions to the problem of childhood obesity. Finally, this essay will propose the best solution and explain this benefit.
One of the proposals in Puerto Rico is fining parents who have obese children. According to the article “Local Government Seeks to Reduce Obesity in Kids,” the states and the federal government have long struggled about how to solve the problem of obesity. The government in Puerto Rico wants each school’s counselor to check every kid’s weight. “If after six months, the child does not lose weight, the parents can be fined $500. If a child doesn’t show significant weight loss after another six months, dines could increase to $800.”
There is another solution relevant to childhood obesity. According to BBC news “Tax on Sugary drinks passed in fines U.S. City,” Berkeley, California became the first city that past the law on taxes sugary drinks. “Berkeley is to levy a one-cent per ounce tax on sugary beverages; a move that supporters say will reduce consumption and battle obesity and diabetes.” The supporters want let us know that we should do something with sugary drinks because it is very dangerous children’s health.
Both of these solutions are pretty good. However, I think the solution of fining parents is too expansive for the lower class. Ted Kyle points out that fining lower income family will lower socioeconomic status. And children who have obesity usually come from poor families. If the government fines their parents, the obesity problem cannot be solved. The poor families need to suffer discrimination, lower wages, and fewer economic opportunities. According to the article “Experts ‘Appalled’ by Puerto Rican Bill to Fine Parents of Obese Children,” Nikhil Dhurandhar once said: “What’s next? Will they be fining parents of children suffering from other diseases? Maybe diabetes? Maybe something else?” I think he wanted to explain about why this law should not be passed. If this law passes, in the future, they will fine parents if their children get other diseases or cancer. So he disagrees with this law. Another person who disagrees with this law is named Rebecca Puhl. She thinks this proposal is a very unfair and inappropriate law for the lower class families. Childhood obesity is a very complicated problem. It is not only relevant environment issue and family issues. Obesity also can come from your parents’ genes.
The best way to prevent childhood obesity is to tax sugary drinks, one cent per ounce. According to the internet article “Tax on Sugary drinks passed in first U.S. City,” it is a good idea that lets the government to taxes sugary drinks because if the sugary drinks’ price start going up. People will buy the cheaper one instead of the expensive one. People who get obesity usually came from poor family. It will affect people to buy less and buy the smaller one. That’s means that people will drink less than before. That’s why I think tax sugary drink is a better idea.

Happiness
Summary/Connection/Response Essay
Happiness is the most important thing in your life. The film Happy by Roko Belic is a movie that people conducted research about happiest country and less happy country. The more important goals are intrinsic goal which includes personal growth, community feeling, and close relationships. Roko Belic claims:" happiness is 50% genetic,10% circumstance, 40% 'intentional activity'," This quote means that happiness is made up of 50% of the genes from family, 10% of environment and community, and 40% of the things you want to do or your own choice. This essay will first explain to you about the connection between a woman named Susan and this quote, and then I will state my opinion about this quote. Finally, I will tell you the future that I look for.
An award-winning journalist named Susan Spencer-Wendel wrote a book called Until I Say Good-Bye. This book is about after Susan found out she got ALS. She wants to record all her important memories which are living with joy until she died, so her children can remember her. People can empathize with her disease. I think Susan will disagree with this quote because Susan was happier when she did some "intentional activity". In the book there is a lot of “intentional activity” can make Susan happy, For example she was very happy about traveling with Nancy to northern light, Canada, and California. She also chose to find her birth mom which she does not need to do but she did. She want self-act stronger, although she was little nervous to meet her birth mom. She was still happy she did this because if she did not go find her birth mom. Maybe she would never know who her birth mom is. In addition, she chose how to die. She wants to live with joy instead to focus with the cure. There was much more activity can make Susan happier. On the other hand, there are only two genetic things that I can found about Susan: her biological father and her appearance. That’s why I think Susan will disagree with this quote.
In my own opinion, I think this claim is not valid. I think happiness should more relate with “intentional activity” instead of genetic and circumstance. People will be happier if they do something they want to do, rather than the genetic and circumstance. The first reason that I disagree with the quote is I am happy with what I achieve. I am happy with what I decide to do. Even if the things that I choose to do are not successful, I am still happy about it. For example, when I was in high school I had a goal which was pass the English regent above 75. I met my English teacher every Saturday, and we practiced a lot with the reading and writing part. But I still did not have above 75 on the English regent. I was not mad about my grade. I was happy that at least I tried, although I did not achieve my goal. Maybe it means that my English is not enough for the regular college student. I need more practice.
The future of the key for my happiness there are several goals to reach. First of all, I need to graduate QCC and transfer to Queens College. I want transfer to Queens College because it is a nice college for accounting career. I will be happy if I transfer out because I get 60 credits in this college. That means that I must work very hard to try to reach my goals. I will be proud of myself. In addition I need to find a nice paid part time job because I need to go to four years college. I need more money to pay my tuition until I get my four year bachelor degree. And I need to save more money to achieve my final goals which is travel all over China. I know this should be a long term of goals because you need time and money to reach this goal. I would like to visit every culture in China. You know in every city of China, there are a lot of exotic foods you can eat. You can deep on your understanding of a country’s history while eating different culture’s food. Isn’t that a wonderful thing to do during one’s life time? You can eat many types of exotic food. You can meet different people during your journey. Isn’t a happiest thing to do in your life?

Friendship
Do you have a true friend? I am sure that everyone has a friend, no matter whether he or she is a human being or an animal. The most important thing you can get is friendship because it is a necessary aspect of every human’s life. A philosopher named Seneca said “Friendship always benefits; love sometimes injures.” This means that you always get a lot of good things from your friends, but sometimes you will get hurt from the love relationship. I agree with Seneca that friendship will always benefit you, but love will sometimes damage you. In this essay I will use the book called The Great Gatsby and a movie called “12 Golden Ducks” to explain why I agree with Seneca.
In our life, people cannot live without a friend. The main character named Jay Gatsby in the book of The Great Gatsby died at the end of the story. He fell in love with a bride named Daisy. But he was get killed by the guy who was misunderstanding the relationship between Daisy and Gatsby. Nick Carraway, Gatsby’s best friend, worked like crazy to find Daisy when Gatsby died. He wanted Daisy to come to Gatsby’s funeral because he knew that Gatsby urged Daisy to come to his funeral. But she moved away from her old place with her husband. In this book we can see that well Nick understands what Gatsby wants. What I mean is friends who can benefit you should know you well. Although you will die at some point, he or she can still help you out. This is what did Nick did to Gatsby when he tried to find Daisy to see him one last time. This movie can describe why I believed that friendship can benefit us.
Another example is a movie called “12 Golden Ducks”. This movie showed us about a woman who used physical disability to cheat a wealthy man out of all his money and disappear. Even though she lied to him, he could not forget her. He became very dejected. However, his friends helped him out of this predicament, and let him can walk out of his dark moon. They helped him get a nice haircut, help him lose weight, and get in nice shape. After that, he became the lightest start in the “dark night”. From this point we can see that how friends can help you out of plight and it also can help you get more recognition. Although you lose all of your money and become poor, your friends will not avoid you. Friendships can't really hurt your heart. But love can hurt your heart. For example, the girl from the movie did to this guy. She not only deceived his money, she also deceived his heart. No matter what did she or he did to you it is hurting you and damaging your body, economic, or effect your life style. That’s why I believe Seneca’s ideas are true.
You can see how The Great Gatsby and the movie "12 golden ducks" illustrate the quote wrote by Seneca “Friendship always benefits; love sometimes injury.” I am sure that a lot of people have had the same experiences as the characters in this movie and book did. Which are your friends always helping you out of a difficult position, but your loved one sometimes hurt you.

“Helping College Graduates find Jobs”
Do you know there are many college students who have no idea about what kind of major they want to take? Do you worry you are one of these students? According to the article, “Helping college Graduates fins Jobs” by Jean Fitz, it is hard for students who graduate college to find a job. The changes find out those students and the accountants of the states of Wisconsin want “college students to be able to get good jobs after graduating from college.” Many students in Wisconsin want to know if their education was helpful to their real job. One problem appears was they are not sure about what kind of job they want. In addition, a problem for state’s accountants is students who change majors and don not graduate waste the money from financial aid. To solve those two problems, they give students detailed tests to determine their abilities, skills and personalities. They use those ideas to match wonderful jobs and careers to students, so they do not need to waste financial aid. I agree with Fitz’s point that students in college need to know what kinds of majors and careers match them.
This article reminds me of a friends who graduated from St. John University. He told me about his first year of college when I was a high school student. It is about when he first went to college; he did not know anyone and no one helped him to choose a major. He chose a major of design first but after one semester he changed his mind think this did not fit him, so he changed to another major. He told me that it was such a waste of time of his first semester. He also told me if you change more than three times, you need to pay extra fee for it. That is why I believe that students need to know that kind of major uses to being independent. They needed someone to hold their hard step by step. They need other people’s abilities, skills, and even personalities.”
Furthermore, we can see in our life. We can see that there are many students cannot graduate on time. Also, the rate of graduation rate in QCC is very low. There is a big effect of students who change their major too many times and include them unable to graduate on time. Many consolers will not tell you what kind of major will match you because you are new they did not know your skill and personalities. They cannot give you any suggestion for you. We all can understand that students who have no idea about their major when they just come to college. The article mentions a good test for students to determine their skill and personalities. If students know what kind of majors is matching them, they will not take more time then what they need to graduate. Then it can increase the graduation rate of college.
In conclusion, college students need to know what kind of major fits them because it will help them to graduate on time, know what kind job matches them, the last thing is it may increase the graduation rate.
